The Queen's Baton visits Botany Downs School

Today there was great excitement at our school when the Commonwealth Games baton arrived from Howick Primary school as part of the relay around the commonwealth countries. We made flags to wave to welcome our visitors and the baton. We thought the baton looked really beautiful with the red, white and blue colours shining. We learnt that the Queen had written a message and it was inside the baton. The message will be read out at the commonwealth Games in India, in October. Some of our Year 5 and 6 children ran in the relay to take the baton to another school.

The Year 2 children learning a Heart Jam dance

We are learning a special dance to improve our fitness. Later this term the whole school will be dancing this Heart Jam dance to raise funds for heart research. Heart Jam is lots of fun. It is like Jump jam and we all love doing that. We are trying to learn the dance by watching a DVD that is being shown on the big screen in the hall.
