Maui and the Sun animated movie
This is the movie of Maui and the sun that we made. First we drew the pictures on Kidpix using a mimio pen on the big whiteboard. Ms H showed us how to cut around things and move them. We had to save lots and lots of pictures. When we tried playing our movie on kidpix it went too slow so Mrs H put it on Moviemaker. We had to add the sound to our movie as well. We are really proud of our work.
Our Class taking the School Assembly
On Friday morning our class ran the school assembly. It was great to see some of our parents there to see us up on the stage. Here is a movie taken of us on the stage with our poi song. The song is called E rere taku poi. We have learnt the poi actions to go with the words of the song.

Our Maui and the sun artwork
We have read the Maui and the sun story and have done artwork for it. We drew the pictures with crayon and then dyed our pictures with yellow, orange and red dye. We think our pictures look great. We hope you like our slideshow of them.

Our Maui and the Sun stories
Maui and the Sun
The sun was too fast. Maui said to his brothers, “The sun is too fast. We should make the sun go slow.” But the brothers said, “The sun will burn us.” Maui said, “We can build a wall of rocks so we won’t get burnt.” So they made flax rope. Then they hunted for the sun. When they got hot they knew they were at the sun. Maui said, “When you see the sun, catch the sun and don’t let go, so I can stop the sun.” When the sun came up, Maui said, “Throw your rope and hold it tight.” Maui hit the sun and the sun said, “Don’t kill me.” Then Maui said, “I will not kill you, but I will make you go more slowly.” So the sun went slow and Maui and his brothers were happy. The sun went too fast. So Maui and his brothers got an idea. There were short days and long nights. So Maui and his brothers made some flax ropes. Then, when the sun rose up, Maui and his brothers attacked, and Maui hit the sun. Then, after Maui and his brothers hit the sun, Maui’s brothers said, “We can leave the sun now.” Then they left the sun and the sun was really slow. Then Maui and his brothers were really happy because the brothers got to do some work.

Our "Digikids"
We have made some of our classmates "digikids". They are good at doing things on the computer and mimio and can help other children when they don't know what to do. We have two "digikids" each day and they have tasks to do. They also wear badges so we know who we can go to for help.
